Why I Built This Brand
I was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer.
At the time, I was processing what that meant for my life — my family, my work, my future. But as I went deeper into the treatment process, I found something that hit differently than the diagnosis itself: the people who looked like me were underrepresented in the clinical trials that could save my life.
Not by a small margin. By a wide one.
Clinical trials are where new treatments are tested and validated. They are the pipeline from research to real medicine. And for too long, the communities who needed that pipeline most — Black, Hispanic, and other underserved populations — were not in the room. Not in the data. Not in the conversation.
That became a mission. The Olandus Foundation was built to change it. To fund cancer education, awareness, and clinical trial access for the communities that have been overlooked for too long.
The Made Man Apparel was built to fund that mission.
The Idea Behind the Brand
The brand started with one simple idea. The strongest words in the world — words like LOVE and MAN — should not live in one language. They belong to everyone who claims them.
In Japanese, love is Ai. In Swahili, man is Mwanaume. In Igbo, Nwoke. In Zulu, Indoda. In Greek, Andras. These words carry centuries of meaning for the cultures that created them. They deserve to be worn.
So we built a brand around that. Power words, printed in the original language, worn by anyone who claims them.
The Family of Brands
What started as two collections — LOVE and MAN — grew into a family. The Made Woman, because strength is not gendered. Foxhole Brothers, for the men who hold the line. Flow Athletics, for movement with purpose. And The Olandus Foundation line — cause wear where $5 from every piece goes directly to The Power of Us programme.
180 community members reached in 2025. The 2026 goal is 300.
What Wearing This Means
When you buy a Made Man piece, you are not just buying a shirt. You are wearing a word that has carried weight in its language for generations. And if you buy from the Foundation line, you are putting $5 into the hands of a programme that gives underserved cancer patients access to the clinical trials that could save their lives.
That is what this brand is. That is why it exists.
Thank you for being here.
